About me

My name is Matthew Tennison I am a sophomore here at WU, I come from the small town of Harveyville Kansas which has only about 100 people total, give or take a few. I went to Mission Valley High School and graduated in the year 2013. The topic that of which I will teacheth to you will be about video games. I love video games there kind of a passion of mine. Not just the action and guns and stuff but the story behind the game as well. Some of my favorite games are ones that don't really have the best gameplay but their stories are so amazing that I cant stop playing till I've beaten it. Of course I love action games too I mean who doesn't. Anyway what I will try to do in my blog is to review games new or old, game accessories such as remote controls and so on. Another thing I will try to do however is try to show that video games are not just stupid pieces of technology meant only for nerds and people with no lives but some games should be considered amazing pieces of art equal to that of the Mona Lisa and Hamlet.

Whats with bad rep for vid games!?!?

Gooooood day, night, or both at the same time depending on where you live in the world. My name is Matthew Tennison or MatsterChief, whichever you prefer. Today I am making this post to talk about and contemplate why video games get such a bad reputation. Ok sure there are a lot of games that have large amounts of violence, gore and language and yeah those are not exactly good things but sometimes they fit in the game and actually are needed to give the game credibility. I mean if you were playing a war game and the person your playing as and the others around you who are in an intense fire fight are yelling, "Hey those bad people over there, are being real jerks by shooting at us!" you would probably laugh a little or raise and eye brow and say to yourself really? Cause when I think of real soldiers in real combat I think they would probably be saying," Those MOTHER F@#$@#@# ARE KEEPING US F#$@#!! PINNED DOWN!!!". When we see this in video games most people tend to relate because in real life if your getting shot at you would most likely be cussing like a sailor even if your Peggy the soccer mom. Still today you hear many people say how video games are ruining our generations children. Video games are being blamed for many acts of violence carried out by kids and I agree and disagree with this. Yes there are many video games played by children with loads of blood and gore and cussing and extreme violence which can impact a young childs developing mind. However it is my opinion that it is not the video games fault, but I believe it is largely the parents responsibility to restrict what there child plays and how their child understands that the game there playing is just that, a game. Still many blame games for violence and are trying to put higher sanctions and rules on the making and selling of video games. So far nothing major has been passed regarding the production of video games but that's not to say that something like banning mature games will not be passed in the future just so far it luckily has not happened. Hopefully though in the near future people will start to take responsibility for their actions and their failure to act instead of blaming anything and everyone else for the things that happen in todays society. Sorry about this being kind of a soap box post but I think its a good place to start talking about video games so people will try to understand more that games are not just vile pieces of junk. Anyway I promise to try and make more fun and exciting posts in the future. Be prepared to have your minds temporarily blown.
